About Us
The Writing Agency was set up by Michelle McDonagh, an award-winning Irish journalist of almost 20 years experience.
Michelle works as a freelance journalist for The Irish Times Health+Family supplement and a number of other publications. She graduated from University College Galway in 1993 with a BA (Hons) followed in 1994 with a post-graduate Diploma in Applied Communications.
She won the ICL/Irish Science Journalist Association Young Journalist of the Year award in 1994. Michelle worked as a staff journalist with The Connacht Tribune in Galway for ten years until January 2007 and during that time, she also freelanced for The Irish Times.
She won the GSK Irish Medical Media Regional Award in both 2005 and 2006 for her writing in the area of health and medicine, which is an area she continues to specialise in.
After leaving The Connacht Tribune in January 2006, Michelle began working as a freelance journalist, covering news for the main daily Irish newspapers including The Irish Times, The Irish Independent, The Irish Examiner, The Irish Mirror, The Irish Sun, The Star and The Irish Daily Mail.
She has extensive experience in writing for medical publications including The Medical Independent, The Medical News and Medicine Weekly. She also have experience in reporting on clinical conferences and pharmaceutical advisory boards.
